Custom Oil Portrait Painting from photography
I use traditional oil painting technique which captures the sense of spontaneity of the oil painting process. To do my oil portraits, I use the better Oils, and the best materials... I can use also gesso, and soft grade pencils, charcoal pencils & colored pencils... I use quality professional oils which are highly pigmented and offer good lightfastness, as well as properly primed surfaces so your painting will last and can be treasured for years to come. It is a Oil Painting on Stretched Canvas or Dibond. The Canvas paintings are easy to hang and look great as they are but look extra special when framed. Floater or box frames can be purchased online or made to order at your local framers. The Type of Canvas is a Belgian Linen - a unique European textile with a high quality, softness, and durability it offers, the world's finest linen available. Belgian Linen Canvas, grown from the flax produced in Belgium and the Netherlands, is still considered to be the superior choice for Artists who want to work on a specific textured cloth. The Dibond substrate is an extremely rigid yet lightweight material; a layer of polyethylene sandwiched firmly in between two thin veneers of aluminium. Thanks to the inherent attributes of these two materials, such as being lightweight, high strength and non-corrosive.
I work creating an expressive portrait with depth and interest, working to create a likeness and finished portrait you are happy with. It’s lovely to look back on an image or moment in time which has been beautifully captured and preserved in art form.
I always start an open dialogue by mail with my clients to know exactly what they want and what they needs are.
The pictures are very important to make a good custom portrait painting. The better the picture, the better the final result. Digital images must be in high resolution. I usually ask my clients to send me different images so we can choose together the better one. This also allows me to take a better image of the subject to be painted. To commission a portrait, I’ll need good quality, well focused photographs, and, if possible, with the subject in the foreground. In addition, photographs made by professionals are recommended in order to offer a better quality and total resemblance in the final result.
I am happy to receive a good selection of photographs to help me get a sense of the person and to see them from different angles. However, in order to capture an accurate likeness I will need photographs which have good lighting and are large or zoomed in enough to allow me to see smaller features and colouring clearly. If in doubt, just send it over and I can let you know you if it can work.
You can send your photographs by email to the following contact.

The process to make a single Oil Portrait takes 2-3 weeks, but sometimes I have overbooking, so it takes a little more. If this happens I would send you an email to inform you before starting the work. The time a commissioned portrait painting takes and the process used depends greatly on the complexity of the work, usually allow several weeks or months for very complex and detailed painting.
The shipping cost is not included in the price, due to the different sizes, and packaging, etc.
The work is sent unframed.
Certificate of Authenticity will be included.
Clients are involved from beginning to end of the process so feel free to contact me for any questions or doubts.
You can see more of my work in the gallery of portraits.
Please feel free to message me if you would like any help or advice regarding sizing... or to discuss what you want/need.
